SINGAPORE – Singapore reported 1,457 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, with 1,277 in the community, migrant worker dormitories (176) and imported (4).
It is reportedly the highest daily caseload since the 1,426 recorded on April 20 last year.
In its data released last night, the Health Ministry said 1,083 cases are in hospital, with 145 in serious condition requiring oxygen supplementation and 19 in intensive care.
The republic also recorded another three fatalities, all locals, bringing its death toll to 68.
One of the victims was a 50-year-old man who tested positive for the coronavirus on September 13.
He was not vaccinated against Covid-19 and had no known medical conditions.
The ministry said over the last 28 days, of 14,412 infected individuals, 97.9% showed mild to no symptoms, 1.8% required oxygen supplementation, 0.2% needed intensive care, and 0.08% died.
As of noon yesterday, Singapore’s total cases stood at 81,356, with 9,198 of them active.
As of Tuesday, 82% of the population had received both Covid-19 vaccine doses, and 84%, at least one shot. – Bernama, September 23, 2021
