A VIDEO circulating on social media showing a man using a loudspeaker to warn the public of a supposed resurgence of COVID-19 at the Simpang Pulai rest and recreation (R&R) area has drawn concern and criticism from netizens.

In the video, the man is seen inside a car addressing passersby, claiming that the virus is “spreading again” and alleging that the government is keeping quiet about the situation.

His actions prompted another individual to approach the vehicle and question him over the claims being made, asking what his intentions were in making such public announcements.

The footage was later uploaded to Facebook by the individual who confronted the man, calling on the authorities, including the police, to take appropriate action.

He expressed concern that such statements, made without verification, could trigger unnecessary alarm among the public.

As of today, the video has been shared widely and garnered numerous comments, with a majority of users criticising the man’s actions as irresponsible.

Several commenters noted that spreading unverified information, particularly on public health matters, could contribute to panic and confusion, especially in the absence of official confirmation from health authorities.

At the time of writing, there has been no official statement issued by the authorities regarding the incident or the claims made in the video. – June 8, 2026
