A MAN who was arrested over the apparent abduction of two teenage brothers is set to be charged for physical sexual assault on a child under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said investigation has revealed that the suspect allegedly committed sexual assault through physical contact by molesting the younger of the siblings, who is 16 years old.
The investigation papers regarding the case have been completed and referred to the deputy public prosecutor's office.
"The suspect will be charged," he said in a statement.
Allaudeen added that a hospital examination found no signs of rape and physical injuries on the youngster.
If convicted, the suspect, who is a local, faces imprisonment of up to twenty years and would also be liable for whipping.
Meanwhile, both brothers are now safe with their family after the traumatic experience.
Their 39-year-old mother said she was very grateful to have them safely under her watch again.
"I am grateful that both were found in good condition. I also thank everyone who prayed for them," she was quoted as saying by Bernama.
They were reported missing from Hulu Bernam in Selangor since January 1.
The elder son, aged 17, had managed to eventually escape when the abductor fell asleep after taking drugs on January 11.
He took the man’s mobile phone along with him and managed to make a call for help.
He was found in a weak state at the Pasar Seni LRT station in Kuala Lumpur that night.
He claimed that he and his younger brother were abducted by an unknown individual and locked up in a motel at Jalan Petaling.
They were kept in a room until January 9 before being separated.
The younger brother was found safe and sound only today.
The brothers had their statements taken at the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters.
Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim explained that the 16-year-old victim was brought to the Hulu Bernam police station by a 28-year-old homeless man at about 10.48am today.
He said initial investigations revealed that the victim had escaped from the hotel in Jalan Petaling after staying there for nine days with the man.
"He then found refuge in an abandoned hotel in Pasar Seni when he sought help from the homeless man. Investigations are still ongoing," he said in a statement today.
On January 4, the media reported that two brothers were reported missing in Taman Bernam Jaya in Hulu Bernam after returning from morning prayers. – The Vibes, October 18, 2024
