A HOUSEWIFE in Sarawak who sells home-made ‘kueh’ for a living died after she was viciously slapped by her unemployed husband in their home.
The incident at Kpg Batu Gong low-cost housing estate in Padawan was triggered when the husband demanded money from the 43-year-old victim.
Padawan district police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police have since arrested the middle aged suspect and are investigating the case for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"The incident occurred on the night of Jan 22 at their house when the suspect demanded money from the victim.
"He was said to have repeatedly slapped her and tried to strangle her after she could not give him any money.
“The victim managed to escape to a neighbouring house after the incident, while the husband fled.
“However, the next day, the victim collapsed after telling her sister she was suffering severe pain behind her ear and neck area,” said Abang Zainal.
Medical personnel who arrived at the scene after the sister called for help confirmed the victim had died.
Initial investigations revealed that the husband had been violent towards the wife before and she had tried to get a divorce. - The Vibes, January 25, 2024
