THE unhygienic practices of a foreign food seller has stirred public outrage.

A video of this was circulated on social media platforms, triggering a debate on food safety issues.

The footage, viewed by over 400,000 individuals, depicts the food vendor at a roadside market, handling food items with his bare hands.

In addition to the unsanitary food handling practices, the video reveals the seller’s makeshift setup, using a supermarket trolley to display his goods due to a lack of proper tables.

Sinar Harian which highlighted it noted that the vendor operated near the Al-Bukhary Mosque on Jalan Hang Tuah every Friday, raising questions about the adequacy of regulatory oversight in allowing such practices to persist.

Netizens, in their comments, want stricter enforcement of regulations, emphasising the importance of maintaining food safety standards to protect public health. – April 22, 2024.
