Two helicopters have crashed to the ground following a mid-air collision, at the Royal Malaysian Navy base in Lumut, Perak, today. – Facebook pic, April 23, 2024.

TWO helicopters were reported to have crashed during a training exercise at the Royal Malaysian Navy base in Perak today.

It is learnt that six helicopters were rehearsing for RMN Fleet Open Day on May 3-5 when the incident occurred.

In a video posted on Mohd Helmi's Facebook page, which has since been taken down, two of the helicopters are seen crashing into each other before spiralling to the ground.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Yusri Hassan Bakri confirmed the incident.

Initial reports said all 10 men on board the two vehicles, HOM (M503-3) and Fennec (M502-6), were killed.

The two helicopters had left the Sitiawan field at 9.30am.

The HOM crashed on the stairs of Stadium TLDM while the Fennec went down at the Komplek Sukan TLDM Lumut swimming pool. – April 23, 2024.
