FOR Malaysian Syed Adam Emir Putra, joining Tesla Inc in the US has opened doors for the bright young man.

The 25-year-old said the experience of working for Tesla had given him a million valuable experiences.

Being selected with a small number of employees when Tesla was just established had given him an advantage to compete in the international market.

“I went to the US to continue my studies at the University of California, San Diego in 2018 to 2022.

“After graduating, I was offered a job opportunity at Tesla as a product designer. It required me to design the Tesla online booking process, including the desired vehicle color,” he said.

Although he is no longer with Tesla, Adam admits that the company had helped him to hone his skills.

“The experience at Tesla was valuable. There, everything moved fast. You need to be quick to act, quick to make decisions, quick to present new ideas because you have to compete with many other players,” he said.

Currently working on the live streaming platform known as Twitch, Adam said, his job requires him to always come up with fresh ideas so that the platform is always relevant among users.

“Besides Tesla and Twitch, I have also worked for Facebook (now known as Meta). As a leader in the world of social media, Facebook is like a new world for me.

“This company is amazing and very big. Mark Zuckerberg’s ability to bring this company to grow worldwide is amazing,” he said.

Adam is also a national fencing athlete and recorded various successes at the international level including the Asian Games and the SEA Games.

“I was once offered a place to go to the Olympic Games but at the same time, the offer from Tesla came.

“Honestly, I was at a crossroads at that time, but then Covid-19 happened and all international sports events and games were temporarily suspended,” he said.

That was when he made the choice to join Tesla and give up on the Olympics dream. He is still active in sports.

He also said he does not mind returning home if called to join the national squad.

“The company I work for now is already aware that I am an athlete and must return if called to join the national team.

“I am lucky because they are very understanding and willing to give me leeway to return to participate,” he said. – April 30, 2024.
