THERE will be no changes in the leadership of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) as all branches have adopted a no-contest resolution.
The party, which is the backbone of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak ruling state government, will not see changes in the central leadership as it heads into the state election scheduled for next year.
The PBB Northern Sarawak zone has adopted the resolution in its current delegates conference being held in Miri.
The no-contest resolution was adopted also by the PBB Central Sarawak Zone and PBB Southern Sarawak Zone.
This means Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg will remain the PBB president, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah the two deputy presidents, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf and Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi the two senior vice presidents.
The PBB northern zone branches, in a statement, said the party will focus on socio-economic agendas.
The key resolution is that the party will focus on infrastructure development, education, business development, rural transformation and other important agendas.
These are to uplift the standard of life of the grassroots PBB members throughout this state.
The other GPS component parties are Sarawak United Peoples Party, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Progressive Democratic Party.
The state election is due in the later half of next year but could be held earlier. - January 19, 2025
