THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will conduct a series of closed-door hearings starting on February 24 (Monday) to address concerns over rising health insurance premiums, escalating private hospital fees, and their broader impact on public health in Malaysia.

The findings of these discussions will be presented in the upcoming June session of the Dewan Rakyat.

Teresa Kok, the PAC deputy chairperson, confirmed that the committee has scheduled 10 proceedings on the issue, which will include contributions from key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Ministry of Health (MoH), and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

Other participants will include representatives from the health insurance industry, private hospitals, non-governmental organizations, and academic experts.

Teresa Kok made the announcement after a public hearing on the matter, which took place in Parliament, and was attended by over 550 participants.

This hearing follows the first session held in Penang on February 14, bringing the total number of attendees across both sessions to 730.
