THE Malaysian government has assured the public that the digital infrastructure supporting the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy initiative is secure against cyber threats.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said comprehensive cybersecurity assessments had been conducted on the system to ensure its resilience and reliability.
“We have implemented a system that considers various potential scenarios. It is safe to proceed with its current use, and this aspect has been examined thoroughly,” Bernama reported him saying.
“The Prime Minister has placed strong emphasis on digital security in all aspects of national digitisation efforts. The same applies to BUDI95—cybersecurity has been given particular attention, and the system is prepared for all eventualities,” he told reporters on Monday.
Gobind was speaking following the opening of the Cyber Digital Services, Defence and Security Asia Exhibition and Conference (CyberDSA 2025) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
He also announced that the government will launch its Digital Trust and Data Security Strategy 2026–2030 by the end of this year. Developed in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Department of Digital Nation, the strategy will outline national goals for strengthening cybersecurity and building public trust in the digital ecosystem.
“I hope we can launch the document before year’s end so that our forward momentum, especially in fostering digital trust, can be clearly seen, understood and implemented,” he said. - September 30, 2025
