A WARISAN MP has filed an urgent motion in Parliament seeking immediate debate on the High Court’s landmark ruling that the Federal Government acted unconstitutionally by failing to honour Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement for nearly half a century.

Kota Belud MP Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis said she submitted the motion under Standing Order 18(1) to allow the Dewan Rakyat to address the court’s decision without delay.

Delivered by the Kota Kinabalu High Court on October 17, the ruling found that Putrajaya had acted unlawfully and ultra vires the Federal Constitution when it withheld Sabah’s share of federal revenue for almost 48 years.

“As a Member of Parliament who has sworn to uphold, protect and defend the Federal Constitution, any action by the government that is unconstitutional must be debated and explained,” Isnaraissah said in a statement on Friday.

She said the issue was no longer political rhetoric but a matter of constitutional duty, urging MPs across the aisle to participate in the debate.

“This is not about politics. It is a constitutional fact that every parliamentarian must uphold to preserve the harmony of our nation,” she added.

The high court judgment on Friday has been hailed as a turning point for Sabah’s long-standing claim to its fiscal rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, ordering the Federal Government to review and settle arrears within a specified period. - October 18, 2025
