THE suspect detained in connection with the slashing of a teenage girl riding pillion on a motorcycle along Jalan Tangga Batu in Melaka is believed to have been harbouring feelings for her.

Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said this was based on the results of interrogations conducted on the 25-year-old suspect after he was arrested at around 11pm near Tangga Batu.

He said that further investigations are still being conducted to determine whether the act of slashing the victim with a knife was done after the victim rejected his love or out of jealousy.

"As a result of the interrogation, the suspect told us he was interested in the victim.

"However, we are still probing if he slashed her because the teenager rejected his love," he said as reported by Kosmo!

It was earlier reported that the teenage girl was injured after she was believed to have been slashed with a sharp object by an unknown individual while on a motorcycle on Jalan Tangga Batu, Tanjung Kling at about 4.45 pm.

Christopher said that as a result of the incident, the 19-year-old victim who worked as a factory operator suffered a wound about seven centimetres long on her back.

The victim, who is from Tangkak, Johor, however, claimed that she did not have any enemies or knew the individual suspected of being involved because she had only been working at a factory in the state for three weeks.

Following the incident, the 25-year-old man was arrested at his home after admitting to committing the act and producing a knife about 27 centimetres long that was believed to have been used in the attack. - October 21, 2025
