A DEVASTATING incident in Kampung Kok Bedollah, Tumpat, saw a 46-year-old single father and excavator driver, Mohd Suhairi Hasim, hacked to death by his own cousin, reportedly as an act of revenge over the victim 'making his son go viral’

The victim, Mohd Suhairi Hasim, a father of two, died after being repeatedly hacked in several parts of his body, resulting in the severance of his left arm and right leg. The gruesome incident occurred on Friday night in Kampung Kok Bedollah.

His mother, Wan Salma Wan Said, 68, discovered her son's lifeless body at about 11 PM. Wan Salma recounted being inside her house and preparing for bed when she suddenly heard loud screams.

"Suddenly I heard a strong cry from Mohd Suhairi calling out 'ALLAH... ALLAH...' more than 20 times," she told Sinar Harian during an interview at her home on Saturday.

"I immediately got up, went to the window, and asked, 'Who are you fighting with now, Hairi?'" she continued.

According to Wan Salma, Mohd Suhairi gave no response, prompting her to rush to the area near the house where her son usually washed his excavator.

Due to the darkness and her poor eyesight, the elderly woman mistakenly touched a man she thought was Mohd Suhairi standing in front of the excavator.

"Suddenly, the man, who is my nephew, spoke up," she stated.

"He said, 'I did this to your son because he made my son go viral.' Then he just walked away, carrying a weapon like a machete with him," she explained.

Wan Salma said she was too shocked and could only watch her son's motionless body lying there. She described Mohd Suhairi's body as being covered in blood, having been hacked in several places, leading to his left hand and right leg being severed. She added that he was also hacked on his cheek, back, and shoulder.

"I then immediately called my other children who happened to live nearby to come and help," she added.

"Mohd Suhairi's body was then taken to Tumpat Hospital. I was informed that the post-mortem would be conducted this afternoon," she confirmed.

She also mentioned that the deceased would be buried at the Mukim Kok Bedollah Islamic Cemetery. Wan Salma confirmed that the suspect, who is Mohd Suhairi’s cousin, has since been arrested by the police.

Tumpat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie, confirmed receiving a report about the incident. He stated that the suspect, aged in his 40s, was taken to the Pasir Mas Court for a remand application. - October 25, 2025
