AN Indonesian man was arrested by the police for injuring an elderly person in a rampage at Miharja Phase 1 Apartment, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan, said police received a report regarding the incident at 11.40 am before a Police Patrol Unit (MPV) was deployed to the location.

"The 25-year-old male suspect without identification documents was found to have gone to the victim's house, who is also a 78-year-old local man.

"The investigation found that the suspect knocked on the victim's door with a knife so hard that the blade broke and was thrown into the drain.

"In the incident, the victim suffered minor injuries to his right rib," he said in a statement.

He said witnesses at the scene claimed that the suspect had been disturbing people and making noise for the past three days.

"Police managed to arrest the suspect at 1.38pm and seized a 34-centimetre broken knife. The suspect was then sent to the Chancellor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital UKM for treatment.

"The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code (causing hurt); Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958, as well as Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63," he said. - October 28, 2025
