CONTROVERSIAL rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, has turned himself in at a police station in the city to assist investigations into the death of Taiwanese influencer, Hsieh Yu-hsih.

He reported the development himself who with a selfie in front of a police station after arriving there and uploaded the post via Instagram Story.

Namewee also shared a post saying that he would provide full cooperation to the police, answering the questions of the public and Hsieh's family.

"I just arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru. Before that, I had arranged a time to meet the police to report myself and appear at the station," he said.

Police had been tracking Wee after naming him a person of interest in the death of Hsieh.

The 42-year-old had allegedly gone into hiding after Hsieh's death was reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"I will fully cooperate with the police investigation to provide answers to the public and the family of the deceased.

"I will not run away. There were seven arrest warrants issued for me, and each time I voluntarily went to the police. I have never run away," he said in the post.

Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Fadil Marsus said the investigation into Hsieh's death had been reclassified as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Fadil said Hsieh arrived in Malaysia on Oct 20 for a planned four-day trip. The influencer was found dead two days later.

On Oct 24, Namewee was charged in court on two drug-related charges.

Meanwhile, the Chinese media reported that Namewee arrived in a car at the Dang Wangi Police Headquarters at about 1.10am.

After taking a selfie video outside, he entered the police station area to meet with the investigating officer.- November 5, 2025
