"I APOLOGISE ... I did not intend to insult the people of Sabah."

This was the admission made by Kedah Housing, Health and Local Government Exco, Mansor Zakaria in the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.

According to Mansor, the admission was made after realising his statement had offended the people of Sabah.

"I apologise for yesterday's speech and I retract it... with honest and sincere intentions, I retract what I said yesterday if it offended the people of Sabah," he said.

He however insisted that he did not intend to do so, but humbly requested that the apology be accepted.

"When I think about it, I actually did not intend to insult the people of Sabah, we were discussing what was said in Sabah about Kedah.
"We made that comparison ... so I don't want to prolong this issue," he explained.

Earlier, a video of Mansor speaking in a DUN session went viral on social media where he had suggested that winning over the people of Sabah was "as simple as giving them Gardenia bread", in reference to the state election campaign there.

However, the matter drew reactions from various quarters, with claims that the statement made by Mansor was considered insulting to the people of Sabah. – November 14, 2025
