A WANTED man has been arrested following a dramatic police pursuit at Kuala Lumpur International Airport that ended with five civilian vehicles damaged after the suspect rammed through traffic while attempting to flee.
The incident unfolded at approximately 4.30pm on Monday when police patrol officers conducting crime prevention duties attempted to stop a red Honda Civic for inspection.
KLIA district police chief M Ravi said the driver refused to comply and sped off, triggering a chase through the airport area.
"Patrol officers attempted to stop a red Honda Civic for inspection, but the driver refused to stop and fled.
"The suspect drove towards the Level 3 terminal route at KLIA and collided with five public vehicles before being apprehended near the scene," he said in a statement.
Videos circulating online captured the vehicle weaving dangerously through congested traffic at high speed before crashing into multiple cars.
The footage showed the driver manoeuvring between vehicles in a bid to escape before being intercepted by police.
Authorities later established that the 30-year-old suspect had an extensive criminal background, with 31 prior offences and an additional record related to drug use.
He was also listed as a wanted individual at the time of the incident.
"Checks found that the driver has 31 previous criminal records and one drug-related offence and was still wanted.
"The case is being investigated under Section 186 and Section 427 of the Penal Code, Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, as well as traffic offences.
"The suspect will be brought before the Sepang Court today for a remand application," Ravi said.
No serious injuries were reported, but the incident caused significant disruption in one of the country’s busiest transport hubs and raised concerns over public safety in high-traffic zones. - March 31, 2026
