A 25-YEAR-OLD security officer denied allegations of raping his teenage girlfriend during a hearing at the Seremban Sessions Court following an incident reported earlier this year
The defendant, Muhammad Syafiq Thajudin, entered a plea of not guilty before Judge Datin Surita Budin on Tuesday.
According to the charge sheet, the accused is alleged to have committed the act at approximately 12.30pm on 12 February 2026 within a flat located in Seremban 2.
Court hears that the accused and the fourteen-year-old victim were in a romantic relationship at the time of the alleged offence
The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi, confirmed to the court that the accused and the fourteen-year-old victim were in a romantic relationship at the time of the alleged offence.
The charge was brought under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a potential sentence of between ten and twenty years of imprisonment, alongside mandatory caning, upon conviction.
During the proceedings, Nurul Balkis Zunaidi proposed a bail amount of RM15,000 subject to a set of additional conditions.
Muhammad Syafiq Thajudin, who appeared without legal representation, appealed for a significantly lower sum.
He informed the court that he earns a modest monthly salary of RM1,700 through his employment as a security guard at a local hospital.
Addressing the court regarding his history with the minor, the defendant stated: "I have known the victim for three months after meeting her at KLIA."
The defendant's father, who appeared as his bailor, further pleaded for leniency, explaining that he works as a night market trader with an unpredictable and fluctuating income.
After considering the arguments, Judge Datin Surita Budin granted bail at RM10,000.
The court imposed strict conditions, ordering the defendant to refrain from any contact with the victim or prosecution witnesses. Additionally, he is required to report to the nearest police station on a monthly basis.
The court has scheduled the case for mention on 16 June. - April 8, 2026
