A SIMMERING dispute involving a RM20,000 debt and alleged romantic tensions is believed to have triggered a violent street altercation in Sentul Raya that has since gone viral across social media platforms.

Police said four local suspects — comprising two men and two women — have been arrested following the midday incident, which unfolded in the middle of a busy road and was captured in a widely circulated video lasting one minute and 29 seconds.

Sentul deputy district police chief Superintendent Jasni Zolpa said investigators were treating the case as a conflict rooted in personal relationships and financial disagreements among individuals known to one another.

“The cause of the fight was due to personal issues as well as debt, and all the suspects have been remanded for two days beginning yesterday and ending today.

“Three more suspects have already been identified and are still at large, but they will be tracked down as soon as possible. All the suspects know each other, are friends, and have personal relationships,” he said during a press conference at the Sentul district police headquarters today.

The footage, which spread rapidly online, showed a chaotic confrontation involving several individuals fighting openly on the roadway, drawing public attention and concern over rising acts of street violence in urban areas.

Police are continuing efforts to locate the remaining suspects as investigations into the incident proceed. - May 22, 2026
