PAS held an emergency meeting today to discuss issues related to Perikatan Nasional (PN), including the future of the party with its component partner, Bersatu.

It is understood that the meeting was chaired by PAS President, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, in Kuala Terengganu, involving the highest leadership, including the PAS Political Bureau and the PAS Central Committee.

It is believed that the meeting, which was held at short notice, began at 11 am this morning, reported Berita Harian.

Sources said that among the PAS leaders present were PAS Deputy President, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man; PAS Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and PAS Vice President, Datuk Idris Ahmad.

Previously, relations between PAS and Bersatu were strained again when Abdul Hadi was reported to have said PAS would reassess cooperation with Bersatu following several actions by the party led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which were seen as violating the spirit of friendship of PN component parties.

The Marang MP was reported to have said the decision was made following a series of actions by Bersatu which were deemed to be displeasing to his party.

Following this, Bersatu Information Chief, Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, was reported to have said that the party would bring up issues related to relations and cooperation with PAS for in-depth discussion at the party's Political Bureau and Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) meetings in the near future. – May 24, 2026
