KOTA KINABALU – After seven months of waiting, school bus drivers in Sabah will finally receive RM600 under the government’s Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) one-off cash assistance.

A total of 347 eligible school bus drivers in the state will receive the payment next week, said Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) chairman Datuk Chin Kim Hiung

“We processed the payment on Wednesday, and they are expected to receive the cash assistance between three and five days,” Chin told The Vibes here today.

Chin reminded the recipients to check their respective bank accounts, adding that school bus drivers in the state are welcomed to contact the CVLB office for clarifications on the disbursement of the aid.

Last week, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong explained the delay was because the Sabah CVLB and the Land Public Transport Agency wanted additional details from eligible school bus operators and drivers.

Wee said Sabah CVLB took some time to go through the details vetting through incomplete or inaccurate information during the verification process.
