MIRI – The first day of Chinese New Year saw two new Covid-19 deaths in Sarawak, one in Sibu and the other in Bintulu.
The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat in a statement said the latest death in Sibu Hospital was that of a 66-year-old woman who died yesterday.
The other, a woman aged 79, died at the Bintulu Hospital.
The secretariat said that the two fatalities brought the death toll from Covid-19 statewide to 58.
The secretariat warned people to be more vigilant and adhere to the standard operating procedures in order to avoid being infected.
The state recorded 83 new positive cases today.
Sibu continues to record the highest daily surge with 44 cases today, followed by Bintulu (7), Miri (9), and less than five each in several other districts.
There are 16 active clusters in the state.
Sibu Hospital has 879 coronavirus patients, followed by Miri Hospital (380), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (155), Bintulu Hospital (150), Kapit Hospital (138), Sarikei Hospital (44), Limbang Hospital (3), and Saratok Hospital (1). – The Vibes, February 12, 2021
