Midnight onwards, Sabah under CMCO

KOTA KINABALU – The National Security Council (NSC) has decided to extend the conditional movement control order for the whole of Sabah effective midnight.

In his announcement today, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the travel restrictions will be in place until October 26.

“After the advice from Health Ministry and taking into account the increasing numbers, the special meeting held by the NSC has agreed to the implement the CMCO from midnight until October 26.”

The CMCO is already implemented in Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna. 

Meanwhile, inter-district travel ban has been implemented in Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan, Papar and Tuaran. 

Under the state-wide CMCO, inter-district will be allowed for those with work passes and employer letters. 

Among others, only two persons from the same household can go out for grocery shopping while all schools, higher learning institutions, pre-schools, public parks and recreational centres will be closed during the CMCO.  

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also announced that Felda Umas in Tawau will be placed under lockdown. 

Some 800 homes involving 17,549 residents in the palm oil estates have been ordered to stay at home.
