KOTA KINABALU - Warisan leader Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal today issued a rallying call to his party and supporters, saying that “the fight is not over”, and that the aspiration remains for them to return to power.
The announcement in a two-minute video may have added significance, considering the political situation in the country, which may well affect the state.
“It has been an inspiration and motivation for us and the party to boost our efforts and spirit and for our hard work to go on with our aspiration of returning as your government in the future,” he said.
“I hope your confidence in us will remain as we continue this fight for the sake of Sabahans. This is definitely not the end of our movement. We’ll continue this fight and we’ll boost our effort to make sure we are united to strengthen our struggle.
“Do not worry and be afraid to face whatever obstacles and challenges in life, when fighting for the rights of Sabahans and Sabah until we succeed.”
The Senallang Assemblyman has not been seen in public since his unscheduled appearance at the house of former law minister, the late Datuk Liew Vui Keong in early October.
Last night Umno said that it is mulling pulling out of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government if its demands are not met.
It is a development that could have a heavy impact on Sabah, as it puts pressure on the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) alliance that currently rules the state.
The GRS alliance government consists of Sabah Bersatu, Sabah Star, Umno and PBS.
Umno has 14 seats in the GRS alliance.
Shafie’s Warisan Plus coalition – consisting of Sabah PKR, Sabah DAP, Sabah Amanah and Upko – garnered 32 state seats in the recent polls, and lost out to GRS which won 38 seats. – The Vibes, October 14, 2020
