MIRI – Sarawak will no longer fix a time frame for its movement control order (MCO), and will instead be relying on the National Recovery Plan to decide on relaxing pandemic-related restrictions.
“This state will decide on the length of the MCO based on the daily rate of cases, the admission rate of cases into the state’s intensive care units, and the percentage of Sarawakians who have completed the second dose of Covid-19 vaccinations,” said the State Disaster Management Committee in a statement.
Sarawak has been under the full MCO since June 1.
Meanwhile, three new Covid-19 fatalities were reported in the state, bringing the toll to 429.
A man aged 86 died in Sibu Hospital while a woman aged 70 and a man aged 78 died in Kapit Hospital.
Four new clusters were recorded today in the state.
The Pasar cluster in Mukah district saw 32 traders infected while the Benteng Sri Aman cluster saw 38 immigration inmates test positive.
The Sri Aman prison cluster involved 55 inmates, while the Tembok Miri cluster saw 59 prisoners infected.
Sarawak also logged 406 new cases today – Kuching had 109, Miri 68, Sibu 36, Sri Aman 34, Bintulu 16, and other districts had fewer than 15 cases each. – The Vibes, July 9, 2021
