KOTA KINABALU – A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has no meaning without the participation of Warisan.
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee said Warisan is the main opposition party in Sabah, not PH.
“In fact, there is only one local party in PH and that is Upko.
“SAPP is of the opinion that any agreement between GRS and Sabah’s opposition will not mean anything without the participation of Warisan which is a Sabah party that is not part of PH.
“This is because opposition parties like PKR and DAP are from Peninsular Malaysia and their leaders in Sabah have no say to the extent that secret talks between DAP’s top leadership and GRS must be led by their supremo, Lim Guan Eng,” Yong said in a statement.
Lim was in Sabah over the weekend, but details of his visit were not made known to the public.
Yong said, realistically, any discussion on any form of agreement with Sabah’s opposition should involve Warisan.
He said whether Warisan wishes to participate or otherwise is something that they will decide upon “when they cross the bridge”.
“Any agreement between GRS and the opposition has to uphold the rule of law.
“Cooperation should not be convoluted by any kind of implication like ‘out of court settlement’ for ongoing court cases or other litigation in the court of law,” said Yong, who is also Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman. – The Vibes, October 25, 2021
