KUALA LUMPUR – A 64-year-old man with high blood pressure and diabetes has been having trouble cancelling his booster shot appointment on the MySejahtera app.
In an interview with The Vibes, the man who only wants to be known as Tan said that he had received a booster shot appointment for the Pfizer vaccine on November 15 but refuses to opt for the heterologous (or “mix and match”) since he had taken Sinovac for his first two doses.
According to Tan, since Sinovac has been approved as a booster shot, he has tried countless times to cancel his original appointment to make a new one.
Unfortunately, he was unable to do so. Furthermore, this is a step he has to overcome before he can make another appointment for a Sinovac booster shot.
“I have been trying to call MySejahtera many times, but nobody answers the phone. I have written to them but what I got was a standard reply from the FAQ (frequently asked questions).”
He added that what he understood from other people was that it is common for MySejahtera to take up to a month to respond but he cannot wait that long.
“Why must you make life so difficult for me that I can’t get my booster shot now?
“I want to go for my booster but just because there are some technical difficulties, I can’t get it done”, Tan said, adding that he does not even mind paying for the Sinovac booster shot.
He added that both his wife and sister are facing the same problem as they are also unable to cancel their booster shot appointments on the app.
“As long as MySejahtera is not cleared, we cannot proceed.”
This is not the first time users have faced issues with the government-developed app.
Previously, there have been concerns regarding data breaches with the app due to several users receiving unsolicited one-time password messages and troll emails.
The Health Ministry has since addressed the issue last Sunday, announcing that there has not been a database leak, and the false text messages and emails were due to abuse of the application programming interface function caused by third parties. – The Vibes, November 24, 2021
