KUALA LUMPUR – In one of the country’s worst flood disasters in recent memory, tens of thousands of residents have been displaced with many industrial areas deeply affected – bread giant Gardenia was no exception.

Gardenia bread producer, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd, on Facebook has confirmed that it has been affected by the floods.

However, the company assured that it is doing the best it can to ensure that all customers can enjoy the supply of Gardenia goods and other products without any disruption.

“At the same time, we are taking all reasonable measures to ensure that the safety and well-being of staff on site are taken care of.

“We are also maintaining high standards and safety measures for clean-up work of the premise and its contents as a whole,” it said in a reply to Facebook users’ photos of empty bread shelves at grocery shops.

Earlier, netizens expressed concerns on social media after they were unable to purchase Gardenia breads after the supply on the designated shelves had not been replenished.

A Facebook user by the name of Bidawati Ismail asked: “Will there be bread tomorrow? The rack is already empty”.

Meanwhile, another Facebook user Makcu Zana said she was facing the same predicament in her area.
