KUALA LUMPUR – The SMART Tunnel, which was closed at noon today, reopened to traffic at 1.20pm as water levels subsided here and the continuous rain began to recede.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police announced on their official Facebook page that the floodwaters have started to recede.

The majority of the roads, previously reported to be inundated, reopened to road users again at 1.25pm today.

No damages have been reported, said police.

The roads include Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Kampar off Jalan Sentul, Jalan Segambut Dalam, Lorong Raja Mahadi, Kg Periuk, Sg Batu, Kg Chubadak Sentul, and the road in front of the Batu 3 police station.

Earlier, The Vibes reported that the SMART Tunnel was closed at 12.28pm to users as part of its flood mitigation plan, since it has been raining in the Klang Valley since the wee hours of this morning.

Several locations in the capital saw rising waters, with netizens taking to social media to share videos and images of their areas.

The Vibes received reports from readers of waters rising near Masjid Jamek here.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall transportation management centre tweeted that Jalan Ampang to Jalan Dang Wangi is inundated. – The Vibes, May 25, 2022
