KANGAR – Perlis is among the states that saw the most recipients of the B40 Healthcare Scheme (Peka B40) from 2019 until April 30 this year.
Perlis Peka B40 chief Amir Bedin expects the state to record the highest number of recipients of the initiative through several efforts that will be implemented by his team this year.
“Perlis is a small state and easy for us to manage, in our bid to increase the number of recipients of this initiative through outreach programmes that will be implemented,” he told a press conference here today.
Amir said a total of 5.95 million people nationwide had been identified as being eligible to receive Peka B40 benefits.
He said Kedah recorded the highest number of recipients with 86,642 people, followed by Kelantan (61,587) and Perlis (9,895).
He said a total of 598,443 recipients nationwide had so far undergone health screening and benefited from the initiative.
“The programme focuses on non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, mental health, and cancer.
“We used the data of recipients of the Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat 2021 to identify the recipients and their names will be included automatically...there is no need to register,” he said.
He added each eligible recipient would enjoy four benefits from the scheme, namely health screening, medical equipment assistance, incentives to complete cancer treatment, and transportation fare incentives. – Bernama, May 25, 2022
