GEORGE TOWN – The Penang government has praised the performance of civil servants in the state for achieving goals leading up to its Penang 2030 vision of moving towards a smart and green state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the civil servants had shown commitment and understanding in moving towards the vision, which was first introduced in 2018.

“The state believes that the excellent performance – through speed, quickness and accuracy – is not only what the state wants from the civil servants – but it is also the hope of the stakeholders,” he said.

Chow said this during the Excellent Service Award 2021 ceremony for a total of 308 civil servants, at the Spice Arena, here, yesterday.

Also present were state secretary Datuk Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus and state financial officer Datuk Mohamad Farazi Johari, among others.

Chow said the event marked the state government’s recognition and appreciation for the commitment and dedication of the civil servants.

“The hardship and challenges faced by the civil servants during the Covid-19 pandemic and the movement control order are remembered by the society at large.”

“The greatest challenge of the civil servants, in their concerted effort, is to continue to ensure the state focuses on family, quality of life, green awareness and harmony for the future,” he said.

“This (burden) has to be shouldered with open-mindedness, as well as a healthy and clear vision.” – The Vibes, June 8, 2022
