KUALA LUMPUR – A snippet of a “sexy” dangdut dance believed to be held at Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan’s (YWP) Hari Raya celebrations last month has made its rounds online once again.

The 26-second clip, originally uploaded on TikTok, shows a local artist gyrating her hips suggestively as she entertains the audience.

In the clip, some of the attendees can be heard cheering as she dances.

However, it was unclear whether her performance happened either in the middle of the function or towards the end of the event.

The event, held on May 18 at the Manhattan Ballroom, Hotel Berjaya Times Square, saw the participation by some 600 guests, including 70 tahfiz students and 20 orphans who were present to receive aid from YWP.

According to YWP's website, the event held from 12.30pm to 3pm was attended by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and the foundation’s chief executive Datuk Zaizalnizam Zainun.

The event was also graced by local artists, namely Haiza Hanafi, Khai Bahar, Baby Shima, Shiha Zikir, Adam AF2, Ifa Raziah, Zaiton Sameon, Datin Salwa Ab Rahman, and Datin Alyah, who entertained along with Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s music band.

The dangdut singer involved in the video was Baby Shima.

Following the video’s release however, the 29-year-old artist told mStar that her dance moves appeared suggestive because she was trying to hold a fart

“It appears suggestive because of the camera angle,” she said

The video had since made its rounds on social media amidst growing public discontent over the rising cost of living and essential goods.

Netizens took the opportunity to bash the ruling government and Umno, a party where Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is vice-president, over their supposed insensitivity to the struggles of the rakyat.

During the event, YWP’s chief executive Zaizalnizam said the foundation had given out RM3.5 million in various forms of aid to Federal Territories residents, including scholarships, school equipment, and hearing aids, among others. -– The Vibes, June 24, 2022
