KUALA LUMPUR – Those who are eligible to get their second Covid-19 booster shots can now book an appointment directly via the MySejahtera mobile application as infections are on the rise after a dip last month.

This is according to a Twitter post by MySejahtera yesterday, which stated that a booking link will be made available under the vaccination page in the app to individuals who are qualified.

Eligible individuals will have to update their application, as well as their personal details such as date of birth, to obtain this latest feature.

Users are also encouraged to visit the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 website for the latest guidelines on booster dose administration.

However, only the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be administered for second booster jabs at the moment, according to MySejahtera.

It is unclear when, or if, other vaccine brands will be made available in the future.

The latest update to the MySejahtera application comes following the announcement by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Tuesday to expand the second booster programme to those aged between 50 and 59.

This is as Malaysia races to increase the immunity level of high-risk groups, amid increasing Covid-19 infections in recent weeks due to the spread of new variants.

Previously, only those aged 60 and above, individuals with comorbidities, those living at long-term care facilities, frontliners, and outbound travellers were allowed to get the secondary booster jab. – The Vibes, July 24, 2022
