KUALA LUMPUR – An unnamed man caused a ruckus at the high court here earlier during Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial.

The man had screamed and wailed at the members of the media who had been waiting at the complex lobby since morning for Najib’s first public appearance since his imprisonment on Tuesday.

However, it was impossible to make out what he was trying to do or say.

He was immediately escorted out of the court compound afterwards by police officers here.

When asked, a member of Najib’s supporters, who turned up in support of the former prime minister, denied that they knew the individual or that he is associated with Umno or Barisan Nasional.

Najib, who is usually surrounded by supporters and a large retinue during his court appearances, is now under heavy guard by police and Prison Department officers.

He arrived at 8.30am at the court complex today while the proceedings for his case started at 10.45am.

The case presided by judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah will continue at 2.30pm today. – The Vibes, August 25, 2022
