KUALA LUMPUR – All of the 8,888 Langkah Sheraton non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are sold out and currently owned by 147 holders, raising approximately RM1.3 million for DAP’s general election campaign fund.

A check on the Polygon blockchain revealed that the top holder has 1,400 NFTs, followed by one owning 700 NFTs.

The Langkah Sheraton FAQs said there are no maximum NFTs a person can own.

The Langkah Sheraton painting was gifted to DAP by its artist, Damansara MP Tony Pua, and the NFTs were sold for a total of 332,120 $MATICs (1 $MATIC: RM3.93).

In a statement today, Pua said that the project “received overwhelming support from cornerstone and whitelist participants” prior to its public launch on August 31, and was sold out by September 1, 3.20am.

According to the project’s website, all NFTs are minted and randomly allocated, with 6,000 Original, 2,400 Limited, 400 Rare and 88 Ultra-Rare ones.

For every 100 NFTs minted, the purchaser will receive a guaranteed, randomly generated Ultra-Rare NFT.

The NFTs are now available for trade on Opensea.io for those who are still interested in acquiring a Langkah Sheraton NFT, as DAP will continue to receive royalties for every trade.

Minting an NFT refers to converting digital assets to be stored on the blockchain.

The painting took Pua about 10 months to complete and was created as part of a curated project to celebrate party veteran Lim Kit Siang’s 80th birthday in February last year.

Langkah Sheraton (Sheraton Move) is often a term used to refer to a group of MPs who defected to another party, which led to the fall of the Pakatan Harapan federal government by end of February 2020, giving way to a Perikatan Nasional administration led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. – The Vibes, September 3, 2022
