JOHOR BARU – Johor police nabbed 718 individuals believed to have been involved in illegal gambling activities in the state under Op Dadu Khas from September 1 to 13.

Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the individuals, aged between 19 and 60, were detained during raids carried out at 652 premises.

Those detained comprise 660 caretakers of premises while another 58 are gamblers.

“Action taken against 56 premises include the disconnection of electricity supply by Tenaga Nasional Bhd while the licences of 13 premises were cancelled,” he said in a statement today.

Kamarul Zaman said 777 handphones, 10 tablets, 44 entertainment machines, and RM140,996 cash was seized during the raids.

He said the case would be investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. – Bernama, September 14, 2022
