MIRI – A group of villagers successfully rescued a 62-year-old fisherman who was stranded at sea near Kg Moyan Laut, Asajaya, near Kota Samarahan, at 12.45am today.
In a statement, today, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the fisherman was stranded when his fishing boat engine suddenly stalled while at sea around 3pm yesterday.
It is learnt that the fisherman had headed out to sea at 5am, yesterday.
The department stated that it was notified of the incident at 11.40pm last night and subsequently deployed its personnel to Kg Moyan Laut to gather further information.
The victim, however, was successfully found by the villagers and his boat was towed back to the village’s jetty. – The Vibes, September 22, 2022
