SEGAMAT – The first generation of settlers at Felda Pemanis 1 and 2 can now heave sighs of relief as they finally succeeded in getting land ownership after a nearly decade-long battle.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi handed over the 5A notices to the 315 residents of the land scheme yesterday.
A recipient, Norehan Hussein, 37, a second-generation Felda settler at Felda Pemanis 2, said she was grateful because she and her settler father, Hussein Abd Ghani, 70, and the other settlers had sought ownership of the land for so long.
“My father was among the people who had fought for this land scheme. What was once empty land now has various infrastructure facilities.
“In fact, he was involved in various community activities here and also helped to protect the good name of Felda,” she said when met at the Notice 5A presentation ceremony at Dewan Semai Bakti, Felda Pemanis 2, here yesterday.
Also sharing her happiness was housewife, Nor Fadillah Jiran, 37.
“We did not give up in our efforts to secure the land titles. Thank God, this time our applications were approved and we were given the 5A notices today.
“I am determined to defend this land until the end of my life,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar’s Office has allocated RM200,000 to recipients of the 5A notices aimed at covering the cost of land lot division, apart from the construction of a new multi-purpose hall at Kg Tengah Segamat valued at RM250,000, which can be converted into a relief centre for residents during floods.
In his visit to Sekijang near here yesterday, Onn Hafiz also handed over several fund allocations including RM250,000 for the repair of SJKT Bandar Segamat; RM100,000 for upgrading work at Pekan Jabi hall; and RM100,000 to aid Pertubuhan Hemodialisis Muhibah Segamat.
Also given allocations were four Chinese new villages in Sekijang, totalling RM355,000. – Bernama, September 27, 2022
