Myanmar man stabs woman to death in Penang

GEORGE TOWN – A migrant residential neighbourhood here was shocked when a Myanmar man stabbed to death his co-worker at Taman Kilangin in Jalan Sg here last night.

After stabbing the victim to death in her abdomen in the eighth-floor corridor of the apartment building, the man ran off screaming and was found dead on the ground floor minutes later.

It is believed that he might have jumped and landed on steel rods used as support for the disabled and the elderly to walk up to the building.

A police spokesman has confirmed the incident and said that the case has been classified as a murder-suicide.

The man was identified as Khin Nyein, aged 30, whereas, the woman victim was identified as Yati Aung, aged 23.

They were both workers at a factory here.

According to a witness, the man ran up to the woman, placed his hands on her mouth and stabbed her several times.

As she stumbled to the ground, he ran off as stunned neighbours looked on.

The duo were believed to be working in Penang for the last three years. – The Vibes, September 30, 2022
