KUALA LUMPUR – The proposed date to dissolve Parliament will be submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during an audience with the king this evening if possible, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The latest from the prime minister comes despite his spokesman having reportedly said that Ismail Sabri will be having a “routine meeting” with the king at 4pm amid pressure from his party to seek the dissolution of Parliament to pave the way for the 15th general election.

Ismail Sabri said the matter could be discussed should issues pertaining to the cabinet be concluded sooner.

“Let’s see, if discussions go on until Maghrib (prayer time), it won’t be possible to discuss other matters,” he said after checking out the final preparations for Budget 2023 at the Finance Ministry in Putrajaya.

He added that his audience with the king is part of a weekly routine prior to the start of cabinet meetings.

Ismail Sabri had earlier arrived at the ministry around noon and was welcomed by Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Also present were the latter’s two deputy ministers, Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah and Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa.

Ismail Sabri also mingled with the officers and staff of the ministry who were involved in preparing the budget before visiting the operations room.

The 2023 budget is scheduled to be tabled at Parliament by Tengku Zafrul at 2.30pm tomorrow. – The Vibes, October 6, 2022
