KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led states of Penang, Negri Sembilan and Selangor would not be dissolved in tandem with the 15th general election (GE15), DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook reiterated.

Loke said that all three government administrations will instead focus on helping the rakyat to brace for the year-end flood season.

“DAP will continue to support the PH presidential council’s decision not to dissolve the Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan assemblies so that each of the state administrations can focus on facing any potential disasters,” he said in a statement today.

Loke’s statement came after caretaker primer minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had officially announced the dissolution of Parliament earlier today.

With the dissolution of Parliament, Loke said that all party election machinery has been activated and the party’s highest governing body, the central executive committee, will meet tomorrow night to discuss election preparations.

Similarly, DAP parliamentary whip and incumbent Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming also said that Barisan Nasional’s (BN) action to dissolve Parliament before passing the federal budget is ultimately disrespectful.

Nga said that BN has belittled Parliament as an institution after tabling the federal budget last Friday but only made the process redundant by dissolving Parliament without it being passed.

He also said BN’s action is entirely selfish and insensitive, especially towards the Indian community who is busy preparing to celebrate Deepavali this coming October 24, further claiming Ismail Sabri’s slogan of Keluarga Malaysia as purely “rhetoric”.

“Now the power is in the hands of the people and this is the time for Malaysians to rise and choose a new (Pakatan) Harapan government that is clean, with integrity and focused on the reform agenda for the sake of all people and national prosperity,” he said in a statement today.  – The Vibes, October 10, 2022
