KUALA LUMPUR – DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has expressed incredulity over recent claims made by Malaysia Advancement Party (MAP) president P. Waytha Moorthy.

Speaking to reporters after a DAP central executive committee meeting late last night, Loke said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) had never received MAP’s application to join the coalition.

“As far as I’m concerned, (MAP’s submission) is unheard of,” he said, adding that he has not recently heard from Waytha, who was the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for unity and social wellbeing during the PH administration.

“Since the fall of the PH government, I have not seen him. The last time I saw him was during a cabinet meeting prior to the Sheraton Move,” Loke said.

“After that, nothing…we did not keep in touch.”

Yesterday, Waytha lamented how PH had closed the door on political cooperation with MAP, ostensibly due to a stance taken by coalition chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“(Anwar) insists that he does not want an Indian party in PH,” the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leader alleged in a Facebook post.

It is understood that PH is still open to possible cooperation with other entities.

The much-anticipated decision on whether Muda and Parti Sosialis Malaysia have succeeded in their bid to join the coalition is expected to be announced today, according to PKR communication director Fahmi Fadzil. – The Vibes, October 12, 2022
