Did Zahid admit to possible crimes of other BN leaders?: Kula

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s shocking remark about a new potential court cluster should Pakatan Harapan (PH) return to power gives the impression that the Umno president is aware of crimes committed by other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.

Describing the statement as shocking, DAP vice chairman M. Kula Segaran has now challenged the individuals named by Zahid to come clean on the matter that has since caught public flak.

“What is equally as bad are all these leaders laughing along to Zahid’s allegations. Can this be considered admission? Or was this a threat by Zahid to toe the line?”

“Will these leaders who were named by Zahid come forth and refute these allegations? Or will they rebuke their president for this tasteless speech?

“Malaysians are watching,” he said in a statement today.

Kula Segaran, who is the incumbent Ipoh Barat MP, said the incident which transpired during the MIC Congress on Monday was also a dangerous insinuation that the judiciary is not free and is manipulated by those in power.

During his speech at the MIC event, Zahid had warned that other BN leaders could similarly suffer selective prosecution from PH’s would-be government – just as he and his predecessor, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, have endured.

“I’m not the only one that will be charged, Tok Mat, you are on the waiting list,” he said, referring to Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and drawing laughter from the crowd.

Zahid then quipped to MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran, party deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, and Umno veteran politician Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein not to take this issue lightly as they too are supposedly in the crosshairs of their political rivals.

“Tan Sri Vignes don’t laugh, you are also included and so is Datuk Seri Saravanan. (Wee) Ka Siong, they won’t forget you, you will be charged as well. Hisham, please don’t smile,” said Zahid in jest.

Kula Segaran said it is incumbent that Malaysians come out in full force during polling day to prevent BN from returning to federal power, cautioning against the possibility of Zahid becoming the next prime minister if this happens.

The DAP man said if such a situation happens, there is also the possibility of Zahid’s own outstanding criminal case – involving 47 corruption charges relating to the Yayasan Akalbudi charitable organisation – to be dropped.

“Dissolving Parliament and calling for a general election is all about saving and dropping the criminal cases against Zahid. Is this what Malaysians want?

“Don’t allow Umno-BN to take us for a ride and give their leaders impunity from criminal charges. We have to vote them out once and for all,” he said. – The Vibes, October 12, 2022
