KUALA LUMPUR – The death of a Malaysian university student in Taipei earlier this month was due to suffocation, the Taipei Times reports.

She also had a broken neck, the autopsy results showed, which also found the presence of drugs in her system at the time of death, the paper said, quoting the Shilin district prosecutors’ office.

Taipei police are still investigating the death of the student, previously identified as Tsai after her body was found, but now identified by the surname Chai.

The 24-year-old’s body was discovered on October 13 in her rented apartment in the Shilin district, after her boyfriend, identified as Chen, was hospitalised for an overdose of prescription drugs.

Police said then that Chen, 30, who might have been attempting suicide, was arrested after his discharge from hospital and he confessed to killing Chai in an accident.

Taipei Times, quoting police, said Chai was a student at Taipei university and worked part time as a model and social media live-streamer.

She and Chai reportedly met in April via Instagram. – The Vibes, October 25, 2022
