KOTA KINABALU – A man has been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over his alleged links to the issuance of Malaysian birth certificates using fake documents.
The 34-year-old was taken in when he surrendered at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday, after the agency’s Sabah chapter sought help from the public to track him down.
“The man is now in MACC custody at the headquarters. There has been no arrest yet. Officers will start questioning him on Monday,” said Sabah MACC director Karunanithy Y. Subbiah.
Fake MyKad and birth certificates are a long-standing issue in the state, which is grappling with problems posed by illegal immigrants. – The Vibes, November 27, 2020
