KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu members who contest in the 15th general election without the party’s blessings will have their membership terminated immediately, warned party secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

In a statement issued tonight, he said membership is automatically revoked in accordance with Clause 10.2.4 of the party’s constitution.

He said the matter also applies to proposers or seconders who act for any opposing party or independent candidate.

The brief statement issued however did not refer to any specific case.

Recently, the media reported that Kelantan Bersatu deputy chairman Mohd Zulkifli Zakaria submitted his nomination papers to contest as an independent in the Bachok parliamentary seat. – Bernama, November 8, 2022
