KOTA KINABALU – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has promised to demand for the post of deputy prime minister, according to its 13-point general election manifesto.

Coalition chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the post must not be a ceremonial position but come with significant responsibilities.

The manifesto also outlined that development funding from the federal government should go directly to Sabah.

During the manifesto announcement, he said GRS will also continue to demand for state rights as stated under Article 112(b), Article 112(c) and Schedule 10 of the federal constitution, which refers to the 40% revenue entitlement.

“(GRS will) continue to demand for the increase of parliamentary seats for Sabah. GRS will continue its efforts to gain 35% seats for Sabah and Sarawak.”

The manifesto also includes efforts involving strengthening the state economy, retaking Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, starting renewal energy efforts, women development, 30% youth involvement in policymaking, as well as housing aid to the poor and others.

“The manifesto covers four main thrusts namely, Sabah first, Sabah forward, Sabah prosper and Sabah united.” – The Vibes, November 8, 2022
