SUBANG – PAS has walloped all comers and proven that they are the party of choice in Kelantan and Terengganu after taking all of the parliamentary seats in the two east coast states.
The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal, Getaran, reported that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) component party had taken eight constituencies in Terengganu and 14 in Kelantan.
The election results caused a lot of shock, seeing how Barisan Nasional (BN) lynchpin Umno had lost all its strongholds in Machang, Jeli and Gua Musang in Kelantan to the Islamist party.
Similarly, in Terengganu, Besut and Hulu Terengganu seats were also conquered.
Umno veteran Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who had held the Gua Musang seat for 12 terms, was finally toppled by PN’s Mohd Azizi Abu Naim with a narrow 163 margin.
The new Gua Musang MP had taken 21,826 votes while Tengku Razaleigh, fondly known as Ku Li, received 21,663 votes.
In Machang, BN Kelantan chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub fell to Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal with a 10,154 majority – where the newcomer’s final tally stood at 35,603 against Ahmad Jazlan’s 25,449.
Former Terengganu menteri besar and the state’s BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said was defeated in Kemaman by incumbent Che Alias Hamid, who obtained 65,714 when compared to the Umno man’s 38,535 votes. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
