KOTA KINABALU – After declaring their support for Perikatan Nasional (PN), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) said they will now follow Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GRS) in heeding the king’s advice and decision to form a unity government.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the alliance believes the formation of a federal government must be hastened for the stability and well-being of the country and its people.

“GRS stand that the formation of a unity government must be inclusive and involve the Sarawak and Sabah governments which command the mandate of the people.

“To ensure the country moves forward, we must have political stability to ensure economic development towards national prosperity and the people’s wellbeing,” he said.

Acting as a Borneo bloc, Hajiji said GRS initially expressed support for whichever alliance that is forming the federal government on November 20, when the recently concluded 15th general election had resulted in a hung Parliament.

Initially, on November 21, he voiced his coalition’s stance in supporting PN chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the country’s 10th prime minister.

This led to Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin describing GRS’ action as a declaration of war against BN. – The Vibes, November 24, 2022
