KUALA LUMPUR – PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has no problems with Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders filing police reports against the party for allegedly issuing accusations and remarks that could incite racial disharmony.
Hadi, who is also Marang MP, expressed during a press conference after a campaign event in Tioman yesterday, that he is prepared to face police investigations over PH’s grievances.
This came when Hadi was asked by the press over PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil’s call for PAS to lodge a police report on Hadi’s assertion that DAP is spreading Islamophobic narratives.
Hadi added: “Go ahead and lodge a police report. I am ready to go to Bukit Aman (police headquarters).”
Yesterday, Fahmi had urged PAS to stop spreading “hate and misinformation” and challenged the party to initiate police probes if it believes that DAP – a Pakatan Harapan (PH) component – was guilty of the accusations flung by Hadi.
He also reminded PAS, a Perikatan Nasional (PN) component, that provoking racial friction would be contrary to the advice of the Agong who had called for unity in the interests of the nation.
Fahmi’s criticism follows Hadi’s latest tirade against the “creedless and immoral” DAP, which he claimed was openly slandering Islam and appointing “stupid and liberal Malays rejected by Islam” to be its mouthpiece.
Later in the day, Fahmi said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PH chairman, had instructed police to investigate those who went overboard in issuing slanderous statements, such as those claiming that Anwar is an “Israeli agent”.
Royal Malaysia Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin has since said that Bukit Aman had initiated an investigation into Hadi over his allegations. – The Vibes, November 29, 2022
